So i feel like a bit of a noob writing this because no one will read it, but i figured because of that it will make a good sort of..faster diary for me (handwriting takes to much time!)
It's basically just something where in a years time i can look back at this post and think hahahahah steph you were such a loser back then.
So i started university yesterday and have been have welcome lectures today and i'm pretty appauled by most lecurers attitudes towards students. When it comes to students who need help, their basic attitude is that there are 18599048359 less senior people to talk to before you come to them..something which they all spent the best part of an hour trying to drill into our heads. Another lecturer told us that he ignores all his emails because they're mostly rubbish, although most of them probably are students who need help...but of course he is FAR to important to help students who are stuck.
They all clearly think they are superior and that the teaching comes second and their research comes first - something that always confused me..one of my friends who looked round UCL was told by a Professor : 'we can't be expected to show up to all lecures..we are scholars after all'.
Now..paying £3000 a year for that sort of tuition isn't good, for the people that are going to have to pay £9000, they will seriously need to question where their money is actually going, because there's no way in hell i'd pay that much.
Something that gets me is my suspicion (although it may be common knowledge) that my money may be going towards funding their research..and their research seems to be the reason that lecturers are so uninterested in helping their students, so why the hell am i paying for someone to ignore me?!?!
Rant over.
